Motto of the Year
One Heart – Two Homelands

Who We Are
About Our School
Since 2002, teaching children from all over New Jersey the language, history, and traditions of their ancestors.
Founded · 2002Our Mission

One heart, two homelands. For 25 years, we have taught, raised, and nurtured Polish heritage together.
Polska Szkoła Dokształcająca im. Juliana Ursyna Niemcewicza in Plainfield, NJ has operated continuously for 25 years as a parish-based, fully volunteer-run school. We are a member of the Polish Supplementary School Union in America (CPSD). The school is also listed in the registry of Polish community schools maintained by ORPEG, and cooperates with the Polish Consulate General in New York.
From the very beginning, we've been guided by an idea best captured in our anniversary motto: "One heart, two homelands." We help children and young people growing up in the United States learn the Polish language, history, culture, and traditions, and build a lasting bond with Poland and their Polish roots.
We offer classes from preschool through high school, as well as a Polish-as-a-second-language program. Classes are held on Mondays, leaving our families free weekends. Beyond regular lessons, we organize competitions, projects, patriotic celebrations, National Reading Day, field trips, and art, dance, and math activities.
Our students take part in national and international competitions and projects, earning distinctions, top placements, and award-winning titles. We proudly support their talents, growth, and activity beyond the school's walls.
A defining value of our school is its community-driven, volunteer character. Our teachers and everyone involved in running the school have for years given their time and knowledge to the younger generation of Polonia without pay.
Our school is more than a place of learning. It's a school family that brings together children, parents, and teachers, builds a sense of community, and shows that bilingualism and dual culture are a source of value and pride.

Our Patron
Julian Ursyn Niemcewicz (1758–1841)
Julian Ursyn Niemcewicz was a Polish poet, playwright, and statesman who served as an aide-de-camp to Tadeusz Kościuszko. He spent many years in exile in the United States, including in New Jersey — a connection that ties Polish history to the history of Polish Americans in our own state.
